LATT's Participation in the TTGPA's Professional Culinary Classics (2009)
On Saturday 14th November, 2009, the Library Association of Trinidad and Tobago, in its capacity as a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Group of Professional Organizations (TTGPA), hosted a booth at the Professional Culinary Classics (PCC), from 6:30 pm onwards at the Center of Excellence, Sepp Blatter Hall, Macoya.
The Professional Culinary Classics was under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Professor George Maxwell Richards, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Other noteworthy guests included Senator the Honourable Jerry Narace, Minster of Health and Dr. Keith Rowley, MP for Diego Martin West.
Attendees had the opportunity to sample a variety of dishes which were prepared by several professional organisations, hotels, restaurants and caterers.
LATT’s cook-team consisted of Ms. Floris Fraser (chef) and Ms. Elmelinda Lara (President - LATT). The two presented a delicious chicken dish which was prepared “Tobago style,” a curried stew of sorts. To highlight the importance of assessing the authoritativeness of information located on the World Wide Web, the dish was entitled “Cyberchicken: Verify the Sauce.” Ms. Karen Eccles, LATT volunteer, aided the cook-team in serving their creation.
The organisation’s booth, decorated by Ms. Ade Baptiste, garnered much attention for its glamorous, futuristic look.
LATT also played a key role in providing multimedia content for the event. At the request of the TTGPA, Ms. Simone Primus, LATT Liaison Officer, compiled a power-point presentation on the host organisation, the TTGPA, and on the designated charity, The Child Welfare League. The presentation was screened throughout the event.
The Professional Culinary Classics was a wonderful opportunity for the members of LATT to promote the organization, to network with other professionals from throughout Trinidad and Tobago and to contribute to a worthy cause.
The Executive Board of LATT would like to thank all of those individuals who contributed (in cash or in kind) towards making the organisation’s participation in the event a success. Some of those individuals (listed in alphabetical order) are: Ms. Ade Baptiste, Mrs. Ernesta Greenidge, Ms. Floris Fraser, Ms. Karen Eccles, Mrs. Marilyn Drayton-Andrews and Mr. Vladimir Henderson-Suite.
