LATT's 50th Anniversary Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Service (2010)

On Saturday 16th January, 2010, the Library Association of Trinidad and Tobago (LATT) celebrated its fiftieth (50th) anniversary with an inter-faith thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, Port-of-Spain.

Various esteemed members of the Inter-Religious Organization (IRO), including Pundit Bramdeo Maharaj, President of the IRO, offered inspirational prayers and readings. Dr. Valerie Hackshaw, Secretary to the IRO, delivered the sermon, while Mr. Felix Harricharan brought greetings to the Association on behalf of the Honourable Neil Parsanlal, Minister of Information. Both insightful addresses touched on the continued relevance of librarians and libraries in the context of a changing environment. Mr. Peter Telfer and the Mawasi Experience provided lively accompaniment in the form of drumming, vocals and music. Please refer to the programme for the event here.

After the service, LATT hosted a reception for attendees at the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) building.

The Executive Board of the Association would like to thank everyone, especially the LATT members in attendance, who contributed towards making the event a success.
