As part of the organisation’s continuing education programme, the Library Association of Trinidad & Tobago (LATT) hosted an Advanced MARC Cataloguing Workshop from January 27th-28th, 2011, in Room 320, Third Floor, Main Library, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.

The workshop was offered at a cost of TT $1000.00 for members and TT $1200.00 for non-members, inclusive of materials and refreshments.

It was attended by approximately fifteen (15) participants from various libraries and information centres throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Gerard Rogers, Mr. Yacoob Hosein, Ms. Kumaree Ramtahal and Mrs. Portia Bowen-Chang - all librarians (and cataloguers) in the Technical Services Unit, Main Library, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.

By the end of the workshop, participants were expected to have:

• Built on the skills used in basic MARC cataloguing in order to use them for cataloguing non book formats
• Read, understand and edit MARC records for non book formats in order to ensure standard, accurate catalogue records for these items
• Originally catalogue materials in non book formats, e.g. Vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, Computer files.
